Los Angeles Zoo

The Los Angeles Zoo in Griffith Park is home to over 1,400 animals across 270 species, with exhibits spanning Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

Accessible parking is available, and accessible routes lead throughout the zoo grounds. Wheelchair and electric scooter (ECV) rentals are available at the International Marketplace near the front entrance, first-come, first-served, no reservations. Manual wheelchairs are $15/day, electric scooters $40/day, with a $25 cash deposit required. Electric wheelchair renters must be 18+.

Assistive listening devices and sign language interpreters are available for programs and events.

Sensory bags are available to borrow. Service animals are welcome.

Some visitors noted that the zoo’s terrain is hilly and varied — the accessibility map (available at the entrance or by email request) is essential for planning a route that matches your mobility needs. The paid Safari Shuttle tram is recommended by visitors with limited mobility as a practical way to cover ground between zones without excessive incline. The KultureCity sensory bag station near the International Marketplace at the front entrance is well-stocked according to visitor reports — headphones, fidget tools, weighted lap pads, and verbal cue cards.
