Malibu Pier is a historic Southern California landmark operated by California State Parks, stretching into the Pacific Ocean at 23000 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Originally built in 1905 as a commercial shipping dock, the pier is now open to the public and features farm-to-table dining at Malibu Farm Restaurant, retail shopping, and pier fishing. The pier and all its businesses are ADA compliant, and on-site Pier Guardians — staff ambassadors — are available to assist visitors who need accessibility assistance. Accessible parking is available in the adjacent lot, and restrooms are on site. Admission to the pier itself is free.
Note that the end of the pier is currently closed for an ongoing safety assessment. Visitors requiring additional accessibility assistance can reach out directly to pier staff or businesses on site.
Visitors report that the pier’s flat, wide wooden boardwalk is generally manageable for wheelchair users and those with mobility aids, though the wooden plank surface can be uneven in places. The pier tends to be less crowded on weekday mornings, making it a more comfortable visit for those sensitive to crowds and noise. Parking fills quickly on weekends, so earlier arrival is recommended.
