Point Vicente Lighthouse is a historic 1926 landmark perched atop a 130-foot cliff on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the lighthouse grounds and adjacent Point Vicente Interpretive Center offer year-round coastal access with several accessibility features in place. Accessible parking is available, with three designated van-accessible spaces with striped access aisles in the paved parking lot off Palos Verdes Drive West. The grounds feature a combination of paved pathways and sidewalks, and the interpretive center building itself is wheelchair-accessible. Restrooms are available on site. Admission to the lighthouse open house (held the second Saturday of each month, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.) and the interpretive center is free, with donations welcomed.
The adjacent Point Vicente Interpretive Center — open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — features exhibits on the natural and cultural history of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, marine life, and the gray whale migration, and is confirmed wheelchair-accessible. Rest areas in the form of benches and picnic tables are located along the route for visitors who need to take breaks. Note that the lighthouse tower itself involves a spiral staircase and is not wheelchair-accessible; the tower is also currently closed to public tours pending restoration work. The grounds are managed by the U.S. Coast Guard, and the interpretive center is operated by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes with docent-led tours by Los Serenos de Point Vicente volunteers.
Visitors report that the coastal trail from the lighthouse is paved and generally easy to navigate, making it suitable for strollers and many mobility devices, though there is a moderately steep section around 0.7 miles in that may require assistance or avoidance for wheelchair users. The interpretive center area has ample free parking, clean restrooms, and shaded picnic areas. Some visitors note limited shade along stretches of the trail beyond the lighthouse, and trails may close temporarily after rain for safety. Weekdays are noted as less crowded, offering a more relaxed visit experience.
