Griffith Observatory

Overview

Griffith Observatory is a landmark public observatory on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood, offering free admission, planetarium shows, and sweeping views of Los Angeles.

Accessible parking is available at the observatory. Visitors should be aware that the surrounding Griffith Park terrain is hilly — the observatory building itself is accessible, but the approach from some parking areas involves slopes. Service animals are welcome.

Visitors report that the Observatory itself is fully accessible with tactile exhibits and Braille signage throughout, and staff are trained in disability etiquette. Note that Griffith Park overall is large and varied — paved paths near the Observatory are generally accessible, but many of the park’s trails are steep or unpaved and will require all-terrain or motorized equipment.
