The La Brea Tar Pits on Wilshire Boulevard is a unique active fossil site in the middle of Los Angeles, with an adjacent museum housing Ice Age fossils excavated from the pits.
Accessible parking is available, and accessible routes lead throughout the site and museum. Accessible restrooms are on site, reserved wheelchair seating is available for programs, and loaner mobility aids can be requested.
Captioning, assistive listening devices, and sign language interpreters are available for programs and events.
Admission is free for LA County residents on select days. Service animals are welcome.
Visitors noted the accessible parking lot on S. Curson Ave is a significant distance to the front entrance — ADA-compliant but notable for visitors with limited stamina. Some visitors report some tight corners in the Atrium but otherwise clear paths throughout. Outdoor park pathways are paved and generally flat; some areas of natural terrain may be slightly uneven.
