Civic Center Plaza (also known as Joseph Alioto Piazza) is a 4.53-acre historic public square in the heart of San Francisco, immediately east of City Hall and surrounded by major civic and cultural institutions. Admission to the plaza is free and it is open to the public daily. The plaza is wheelchair-accessible throughout, with paved, level pathways connecting its main areas. Accessible parking is available at the Civic Center Underground Parking Garage at McAllister and Polk Streets, and at the Performing Arts Parking Garage at Grove and Franklin Streets, with accessible curbside spaces designated on Van Ness Avenue and McAllister Street. The Civic Center/UN Plaza BART station nearby is served by elevators for accessible transit access. ADA service animals are welcome everywhere in Civic Center.
