The Ford (John Anson Ford Amphitheatre) is a 1,200-seat outdoor performing arts venue nestled in the Hollywood Hills, operated by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and presenting music, dance, theater, film, and family events each summer. Nine dedicated ADA parking spaces are available on site, with a free accessibility cart to transport patrons from the accessible parking area to the ADA entrance on the loading dock level, where box office services and an elevator provide access to the theater, concessions, and picnic terrace. The main entrance also features a graded inclined path suitable for wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, and canes leading to Edison Plaza (level 1), and an elevator from that level reaches level 4 (accessible restrooms) and level 5 (amphitheater seating). The amphitheater has 10 wheelchair spaces, 10 companion/ADA seats, and 14 transfer seats, with accessible seating no more than 96 feet from the stage. Off-site shuttle service is also wheelchair accessible. Accessible restrooms are located on level 4, and wheelchair-accessible concession areas are available on the Zev Terrace and Edison Plaza.
Assistive Listening Devices are available free of charge and can be picked up from across the House Manager’s Office on level 4. Sign language interpretation can be arranged through Accessibility Services (323-850-2125) with at least 5 business days’ advance notice, and open captioning is available with at least 10 business days’ advance notice. The Ford has partnered with KultureCity® for sensory inclusion, providing annual staff training and offering sensory bags with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and weighted lap pads available upon request from ushers. A Social Story is available before your visit to help guests prepare for the experience. The EBT Access Program provides discounted tickets to eligible individuals with an active Medi-Cal or Cal-Fresh (EBT) card, and the Ticket Access program distributes free tickets to select community members each season. Service animals (as defined under the ADA) are welcome.
Visitors note that the on-site parking lots are set in hilly, unpaved terrain, so arriving early is recommended to allow time to navigate the venue. The free shuttle from the Metro station is a popular alternative for those who prefer not to navigate the hillside lots. Staff are generally described as attentive and helpful.
