Knowland Park

Knowland Park is the natural hillside parkland that surrounds the Oakland Zoo in Oakland, California. The zoo and park welcome visitors with disabilities and are committed to making grounds, facilities, and programs accessible to all. An ADA Accessibility Map is available for download to help guests navigate the site. While some pathways are steep and may be challenging, the zoo is wheelchair accessible throughout. Wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters, and double strollers are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis at the Gift Shop near the Main Entrance. Private cart-driven Docent Cart Tours are available for reservation with at least two weeks advance notice.

Service dogs are permitted throughout the park and zoo, with a formal Service Dog Policy and a dedicated Service Dog Map indicating where service dogs may go on the grounds. Other pets and dogs are not permitted on zoo grounds or in parking areas. Electric mobility scooter rentals require a valid driver’s license. Cart tours are unavailable during the Glowfari event, though wheelchair and scooter rentals remain available on those nights on a first-come, first-served basis.
