Ruth Bancroft Garden

The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a 3.5-acre public dry garden and living museum in Walnut Creek, California, celebrated for its extraordinary collection of cacti, succulents, and drought-tolerant plants. The garden is accessible for wheelchair users and walker users, with compact, level gravel pathways and no stairs or steep hills. Two loaner wheelchairs with durable tires are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking and restrooms are ADA-compliant. Seating is available throughout the garden, including wooden benches, chairs, and bistro tables. Service animals are welcome. EBT cardholders receive free admission for up to four people through the Museums for All program.

Admission includes a self-guided tour booklet and a What’s in Bloom sheet. The garden notes that pathways are gravel rather than paved concrete, and recommends that visitors who are blind or have low vision be accompanied by a sighted companion, as path edges are not clearly defined and many plants have spines.
