Zellerbach Hall

Overview

Zellerbach Hall is the primary performing arts venue on the UC Berkeley campus, home to Cal Performances, presenting world-class music, dance, opera, and theater in a nearly 2,000-seat auditorium. The hall has accessible entrances via ramps at the main entrance on the east side of the building, and an elevator serving the orchestra and mezzanine levels. Wheelchair and scooter-accessible seating locations are available throughout — patrons may remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to theater seats — and these can be purchased online, by phone, or in person. Accessible restrooms are available on multiple floors. Nearby accessible parking is available at the RSF Garage (approximately 2 blocks away), and a designated curbside drop-off area is located on Gayley Road near the Greek Theatre North Entrance with access to the ADA ramp. Patrons can also navigate the venue using the GoodMaps Explore mobile application, which provides highly detailed indoor mapping for Zellerbach Hall.

For patrons who are deaf or have hearing loss, free assistive listening devices (ALDs) are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and can be picked up from Audience Services staff starting one hour before the performance. Sign language interpreters are available by advance request — contact the Ticket Office at least two weeks before the performance. For blind and visually impaired patrons, Cal Performances partners with Gravity Access Services to offer live audio descriptions via headset for select performances each season. Pre-show haptic access tours — immersive tactile and audio introductions to costumes, props, and key movement elements — are also offered for select performances and can be reserved when purchasing tickets. Digital Program Books are available for all performances. Service animals are welcomed in accordance with UC Berkeley visitor policies.

Visitors note that the hall’s wheelchair seating options and ALD availability are well regarded, and that arriving 30–40 minutes early is advisable given the sometimes-challenging campus parking situation on performance days.
