Sunnylands gardens and visitors center is worth a visit even if you can’t get tickets for a tour of the property or the home, though both of those are well worth the time and cost and advance planning required. The free visitors center always has a special exhibit related to the original homeowners and their extensive friends and an introductory film. The gardens with mazes and easy walkways if a perfect place to spend some time for all ages and is like quiet resting space for Coachella Valley. The simple and inexpensive cafe and patio tables is a great place for lunch or a simple snack.
The golf car tours of the estate are terrific too and they solve all mobility issues since you never need to leave the golf cart if that is preferred. Various tours of trees, bird watching etc. are worth the time and cost if tickets to the home are not available. The house tour is very wheelchair accessible, and the tour guides are very accommodating for anyone who lets them know they need to sit periodically.
