California Memorial Stadium is the historic outdoor college football stadium on the UC Berkeley campus, home of the California Golden Bears. Originally built in 1923 and extensively renovated in 2012, the stadium underwent a $321 million renovation that specifically included wider concourses, new accessible restrooms, new wheelchair seating sections, and improved access throughout the venue. The renovated stadium is designed with elevators, accessible restrooms, accessible concessions, accessible water fountains, ATMs, and wheelchair seating areas distributed throughout. Reserved wheelchair seating is available and can be purchased by contacting the Athletic Ticket Office.
On football game days, UC Berkeley provides ADA Golf Cart service for patrons with mobility needs, operating from shuttle drop-off points to the stadium gates. The stadium features benches intentionally spaced to allow wheelchairs to be parked in between them. Accessible ticket information is available through the Athletic Ticket Office at (800) 462-3277, and guests can receive in-person assistance at Guest Services Centers located within the stadium.
Visitors report that parking near the stadium on game days is very limited and competitive, and those requiring accessible parking are advised to arrive early. The uphill approach to the stadium from the surrounding neighborhood can be challenging for some mobility aid users, but the on-campus ADA golf cart shuttle service from drop-off points helps bridge that gap.
