Corona Heights Park is a 13.2-acre public park in the Castro and Corona Heights neighborhoods of San Francisco, managed by the SF Recreation and Park Department. The park is free to enter and open to the public daily. Parking is available at the adjacent Randall Museum, with limited parking at the 15th Street tennis courts and street parking around the park. Public restrooms are available on site. MUNI lines 24 and 37 serve the park via Castro Street and Roosevelt Way respectively, providing accessible transit options. Service animals are welcome throughout the park.
The park features a one-mile trail network winding around the hill and up to a panoramic summit. The trails consist of dirt paths that are described as fairly stable in places but include steep sections, box step staircases, and one particularly challenging section near the 15th Street tennis courts with loose gravel. Notably, the steps leading up to the peak are not supported by handrails. The park also features a playground, tennis and basketball courts, a fenced off-leash dog area, and Bill Kraus Meadow at the Museum Way and Roosevelt Way entrance, which provides a relatively flat, grassy entry point to the park.
Visitors report that the terrain is steep and rugged in many areas, making much of the trail network challenging for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility, despite the park being noted as wheelchair accessible at its lower entry areas. Some visitors note the playground surface includes wood chips, which can be difficult to navigate with wheels. Those seeking views without the steep climb note that some parking is available near the summit area.
Service Animals Allowed
Steep dirt trails with box step staircases throughout; steps to summit lack handrails; relatively flat entry at Bill Kraus Meadow (Museum Way & Roosevelt Way); parking available at Randall Museum and near summit area. Terrain is largely unpaved and hilly — much of the park is not suitable for wheelchair users beyond the lower entry areas.
