East Beach

Crissy Field East Beach is a free, publicly accessible shoreline park within the Presidio of San Francisco, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, offering iconic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. The beach features accessible parking spaces in the free East Beach lot directly adjacent to the beach, with visitors displaying a valid disabled person placard not required to pay at paid Presidio lots. Most pathways throughout Crissy Field are generally level, and the Golden Gate Promenade — accessible from the East Beach trailhead — runs 2.3 miles with an average slope of 0% and a minimum width of 60 inches across surfaces of compacted decomposed granite, boardwalk, and asphalt.

East Beach also provides a seasonal beach access mat and two loaner beach wheelchairs available by reservation with at least five days advance notice, bookable by emailing [email protected] or calling the NPS accessibility line. The beach is entirely free to enter, and admission is free for all. Service animals are welcome throughout the park. The adjacent Golden Gate Promenade/Bay Trail is described by the Presidio as one of the easiest places to walk or roll in the entire park. Accessible changing areas are available at the East Beach restroom facility.

Visitors report that the flat, wide promenade from East Beach is genuinely easy to navigate by wheelchair and mobility aid, and that the accessible picnic area near the marsh boardwalk offers a somewhat sheltered spot with good views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands.
