The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert is home to over 500 animals representing more than 150 species, set across wide, paved pathways that are fully accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
Wheelchair, electric scooter, and stroller rentals are available at the entrance. The zoo is a Certified Autism Center™ and provides complimentary sensory bags — including fidget tools, noise-canceling headphones, and weighted lap pads — available at admissions windows with a valid ID. Detailed sensory maps highlight loud, crowded, or quieter areas throughout the park. Assistive listening devices are available for hearing-impaired visitors. An aide accompanying a hearing-impaired or sight-impaired guest receives a complimentary admission ticket. SNAP/EBT cardholders receive reduced admission ($5 per person for up to 4 people).
Service animals are welcome with some restricted areas (Petting Kraal, Australian Outback). Note: Located in Palm Desert, approximately 15 minutes from downtown Palm Springs.
Wide paved paths throughout most of the park are suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Closes early in summer (last admission 12:30pm June–September) — visitors recommend morning visits to avoid both heat and lines for giraffe feeding.
